Terms of Use
Effective 4 August 2026
These terms cover your use of Signl, an iPhone app published by Victor Backouche. By using Signl you accept them.
The short version. Signl scans your home in 3D and measures your WiFi. Scanning and the raw 3D model are free. A subscription unlocks the map that shows where your signal fails. Everything you scan stays on your iPhone — there is no account and no server holding your home.
What Signl gives you
Free, with no subscription
- Onboarding and speed tests
- Scanning your home in 3D, as many times as you like
- Viewing the 3D model of your home
- A count of the problems found — for example "2 dead zones found"
With a Signl Pro subscription
- The revealed WiFi map, with colours and positions
- The location of each dead zone
- Where to place a repeater, and by how much it would improve coverage
- Per-room scores
- PDF export
- Floor-plan import
- Placing your devices on the map
Subscriptions and billing
Signl Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold in two options: yearly and weekly. The current price is shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
- If the yearly option includes a free trial, the trial is stated in the app before purchase. Unused trial time is forfeited if you subscribe during the trial.
- You manage and cancel your subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Requests go through Apple's own process at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What the measurements are, and are not
Signl reports what it measured, where you walked, at the moment you walked there. WiFi is affected by the time of day, your neighbours, where you stand, what your router is doing and what else is on the network, so two scans of the same home will not be identical.
Signl's readings are an indication, not a certified survey. Do not rely on them for anything where being wrong is costly — a tenancy dispute, an insurance claim, a contractual obligation to an ISP, or professional network installation. The repeater suggestion is a calculation from your own scan, not a guarantee that buying hardware will fix anything.
Coverage of your home is limited to the rooms you actually walked through.
Your data
Scans, photos, room maps and quiz answers are stored on your iPhone. There is no account, and we do not hold a copy.
Four things do leave your device:
- The speed test transfers data against Cloudflare's public speed endpoint to measure your connection.
- Anonymous usage events go to PostHog, on European infrastructure, so we can see where people get stuck. They carry counts and outcomes — never the geometry of your home, a scan photo or your network name.
- If you import a floor plan, that plan image is sent to our reader service to extract its rooms, and to our visualiser to build the 3D view — which uses Google's image model and fal.ai.
- Your subscription status is handled by Apple and RevenueCat, against an anonymous identifier.
Each of these is described in full, one flow at a time, in the Privacy Policy.
Because your data is on your device, deleting the app deletes it. We cannot restore it for you and there is no backup on our side.
Acceptable use
Do not reverse-engineer the app, resell it, or use it to interfere with networks or devices that are not yours. Scan only property you live in or have permission to scan.
Availability
Signl is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of defects, and features may change or be removed as the app develops. If we make a material change to what a paid subscription includes, we will say so in the app.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for your subscription in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.
Nothing in these terms removes the statutory rights you have as a consumer under French and EU law.
Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date above changes when we do, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
French law governs these terms. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
